Biology 675: Evolution Seminar

This seminar course is a component of the new Evolutionary Biology option of the Biology Major, but is also appropriate for any upper level undergraduates interested in evolution.

This class offers a great opportunity to get to know the evolution research community at UW and meet some outstanding external speakers!

Each week, students will attend the regularly scheduled Evolution Seminar Series (ESS) featuring presentations by evolutionary biologists from on and off campus. These are high-quality research seminars so expect to be challenged. After the seminar, we will meet for a roundtable discussion of the seminar topic and to prepare for the following week. A group of students will be responsible for leading each discussion, which will require selecting readings for the class in advance, preparing questions for the group discussion, and interacting with the ESS speaker. This course will provide exposure to a wide variety of topics in evolutionary biology and help develop skills to get the most out of research seminars.

Prerequisites: Zoology 410 or consent of instructor
